it's really early on a sunday morning and i have no idea why i'm already up haha. but anyway, i'm bored and decided to do a "guess my ethnicity" post, since it's been pretty popular on ABB recently. sorry i don't have any really good pics, these are the only solo pictures i have and i don't really feel like having to edit out peoples' faces lol =P
i took this in shanghai at one of those fancy studios during a trip to Asia in 2002, i know it's old, but haha this is probably the best picture i ever took!
ok this is me now, no good lighting, no embellishments, just plain old me [plus a few pounds and some not so pretty skin] haha.
so what do ya gals think?? i've gotten all kinds of comments about my ethnicity before. some say i look korean, others say i look filipina. i used to also get a lot of vietnamese, but then i think that's because i hang out with a lot of viet and people will tend to see me as one of them. oh yeah, and by far i ALWAYS get that i'm white/asian mixed, though i really don't see what about me looks mixed?? if you can tell me, please do!...and interestingly i tend to be called mixed by those of my own ethnicity, especially when i go back to the "motherland" to visit. i used to think it was because of the way i dressed or how i acted, but when i went back with my bf, they automatically saw him as *fill ethnicity name here*, but insisted that i was mixed no matter what i said haha. i mean don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being mixed...i actually think it's kinda cool to have different cultural backgrounds, but i just don't get why i keep getting the "mixed" comment even though i look a lot like both of my parents who are both recognizably straight up asian?! |

I’m going to say... Chinese, because you took those photos in Shanghai.
I get the ’mixed’ comment occasionally, though it seems like it’s mostly from black people and white people. Go figure. Both my parents look like they belong in a ’60s Mao poster about the greatness of the Chinese people; we’re a very stereotypical looking family. In your case, I think it’s because you have big eyes - in mine, I think it’s because I have a fat ass. |
| I’m going guess Chinese as well. I think people might think you’re mixed also because your nose bridge is slightly taller than most Asians, in addition to having big eyes. Having brownish hair might even reinforce that. My mom gets those comment as well for the same reasons. No me, since I look more like my dad’s side :p |

...and i thought mongolian was a really nice guess, i DO kinda have mongolian-like features like the rounder/squarer face...and though it’s not in these pictures, when i smile i have prominent chubby cheeks that seem to be a mongolian feature (at least from the mongolians that i’ve seen) =P. |
